Hi there,

I tried to install mitmproxy to test it with my firefoy and my ios device.
But after my installation of python and urwid (via macports) the gui of mitmproxy is still blank.

I googled and tried the following instructions: http://r00tsec.blogspot.com/2011/04/howto-installation-mitmproxy.html
But without success...

Do I have to initiate the SSL connection in a special way?

My first suggestion would be to make sure that your proxy settings are actually pointing at mitmproxy. Note that Firefox has an independent proxy setting that can override the OSX base setting.

Aldo

Hey Aldo,

thanks for your fast reply.
But the internal Firefox Proxy was not the problem.

I installed the certificate also at my apple iOS device...
But I can't see any connections at my mitmproxy bash.

This is very strange...

Or might be the mitmproxy not correct installed?
I can see the urwid, the help section, event log, set Intercept filter etc. ...

Cheers!

This may be a stupid suggestion, but is the OS X proxy setting incorrect?

Stupid question back, how to install the certificate correctly under Mac OS X?
Only importing the certificate into the keychain?

I'm going to close this one - I can't reproduce it, and it sounds like a configuration error. If you're still having this issue, let me know.

As for your question, yes importing the cert into the keychain is the right way to go on OSX. Firefox has independent cert management, so if you only want to use mitmproxy with Firefox, you can also import the cert there.
