The reason for the 32-bit package is that I don't know whether WSL is or will ever be available also for 32-bit systems. In that case it would be easier to provide a 32-bit build as "one size fits all".
If you can point me to a definitive statement of Microsoft that WSL is a 64-bit only product, I will switch right away.
Otherwise I might have to maintain 2 packages which is kind of bothersome.

I agree it is bothersome and just dropping wslbridge into Cygwin64 and making a shortcut is easy enough.
But the Cygwin32 Heap issues are also bothersome. I don't know how many are affected by it or if it only is an issue for people running Windows 10 64 bit. But seeing as 64 bit is currently a requirement according to MSDN it would make sense to make it 64 bit for now.

But one should wait to see after the official Creator's Update. But all indications show they are going to keep the 64 bit requirement. Feature freeze on the WSL component also took place about a month ago.

uname on Creators WSL tells me:

Linux <my host name> 4.4.0-43-Microsoft #1-Microsoft Wed Dec 31 14:42:53 PST 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Everything is saying "64 bit". :)

uname on Creators WSL tells me:

Thanks, but the question wasn't whether anyone's particular installation is 64 bit. The link into MSDN above at least says that the beta version is only available in 64 bit (which I knew) but that does not indicate that a final release might not be available in 32 bit, too.
But I think I'll switch anyway.
