It looks like the Mixed Reality Toolkit is using a file picker to have you select a folder. I've seen this done in other apps as there is not native folder picker feature in WPF. Assuming this is the case, locate the Asset folder of the Unity project, then select any file that is within the folder that also includes the Assets folder (I selected Readme.md).

Also, I believe "ProjectBladeMRnew" is just the name someone changed the main project folder to locally on their system. I believe this is the "Unity-Project" folder in the download.

@rbrundritt

Thank you for your assistance.
I'm quite new to this learning path.

Do you have any advice/resources/etc. you'd like to share with a future XR profoessional?

I'm fairly new to the newer mixed reality tools. Most of my experience is in geospatial side of things. I built AR experiences in the past for mobile devices and computer cameras based on the sensors in the devices. Even included a code sample in a book I wrote for Windows 8.

That said, some general career advice;

  • Whatever the technology you decide to work on, find an area that interests you. Maybe you have a strong background in mathematics, so going deep into the math involved for MR scenarios would be a good idea. When you do something like this it makes it a lot easier to become passionate about the technology, makes it more fun. When I started my career I got bored pretty quickly with the tech stack I was working on, but one day decided to combine some of my other interests with this tech stack, and share my learnings. Before I knew it I had one of the most frequently used blogs on that tech stack.
  • Share your knowledge with the community. Help others on forums, write blogs, present at conferences, work on open-source projects, any of these are great options. This will help build your reputation and over time become known within the community and over time potentially be seen as a subject matter expert.
  • Ask for what you want, not what you think you will get. This can apply in a lot of contexts (job offer, working with other teams...). By doing this you will often end up with more than you expected.
