@jwittner You are totally right--I worded that super poorly! I've updated it to describe the problem, not why it's a problem :P

The title of this issue confused me - I thought you were suggesting APIs were only occasionally return bodies that were interesting for some reason (like they were sporadically different somehow), but it sounds like the real issue is that error messages are not propagated up to users?

I'm tackling this in two passes--first is allowing PUT/DELETE/POST methods to have response bodies, second is to try and parse error info in cases where we get http failures back.
