I don't think this is a implementation error. Checks against my Fritz!Box 7490 at home take on average 12 seconds, in some cases it takes up to 25 seconds. I think this as to do with the workload of the Fritz!Box, since the processor seems not to be the fastest. In addition the web interface response time is also quite slow and confirms my assumption that this has to do with the workload. A newer Fritz!Box (eg. the 7590 model) may be faster due to a newer processor.
Nevertheless I'll implement a new parameter to define a timeout, in the current master it is hard coded to 60 seconds.
