Color used on:
- the trails
- tint color - showed on the side bar menu & highlights & buttons (or text that can be tapped)
- has to work with apple maps colors - don't make trail colors same as roads

I took the green from the ios guidelines:
And looked up the HTML # and then looked for color palettes using that or a similar color - I found two that are really nice.
Here is a color palette I really like: http://www.colourlovers.com/web/trends/websites/7853/KICKSTARTER
And here is another one I really like: http://www.colourlovers.com/web/trends/websites/7855/FourSquare
I imagine we would only use the second green or the first blue for the most part ...

It just occurred to me that the second color palette may be best since the brighter blue could be the heat map color.

Font ideas:
I found this fun combo online: http://fontsinuse.com/tags/419/iOS%20app
And then looked up fonts that are similar: http://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/Montserrat
and came up with "Monserrat" on googlefonts as an alternative to Proxima Nova

ok - according to the internet, the Univers font is a masterpiece without peer (free or otherwise) and I should spend the $29 for the font .... http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/linotype/univers/45-light/buy.html
I am kinda' convinced and interested in buying it, thoughts?

I like that second color scheme! The blue color looks great for UI and decent (though a little too desaturated) on the map. The green doesn't work well in the app, since it's too light for UI and too similar to map colors to indicate trails. We could possibly use green for the app icon though?

Is there are way to do a screen shot with the colors? I would love to see the green vs the blue - it could give me an idea of which way to go next ...

Yes! I'll get some screenshots up shortly.

So here's a screenshot after playing with colors a little bit... green tint on the toolbar, blue tint on sidebar buttons, and trails in blue. I'm not too sure about having different colors between the map view and the sidebar, but it seems to work here?
