I suspect these issues will be resolved if you use the latest release. Please provide an update once you do try.

I'm trying this script on 10.12.6 and it looks like MB sleeps normaly.

Issue not affecting macOS Sierra, and is only applicable to High Sierra.

This does not seem it can be resolved on my part, nor will I put in the effort to try since Apple changed something in High Sierra causing this.
