Matomo Tag Manager script throws errors in latest version about matomo-for-wordpress

Hi @tsteur. I'm using Brave 1.0.1 (i.e. Chromium). I did see the same JavaScript errors logged in the Matomo frontend as well, which leads me to believe it's not just me.

I don't know if this helps at all, but I spotted this old reported issue, which mentions possible conflicts with jQuery.

Anyway, I can table this for now and see if I get any wiser from studying the errors reported.

@newmediamadman thanks a lot. I was able to reproduce this with brave. I think it only happened for me on the first page view in a new visit but not quite sure.

Created matomo-org/tag-manager#205 as this is a regression in tag manager from a recently added feature. I hope you don't mind that I'm closing the issue here as it's not quite related to Matomo for WordPress.

In your Tag Manager Container, in the Matomo Configuration Variable you might be able to workaround that issue by removing the value in the domains field:

Thanks @tsteur. Just for the record, I tried removing the domain from the Matomo variable, but the error still persists. Also, in my original post I mentioned that reported traffic is down by 80%. I believe this may have been be due to the fact that my reports had not been successfully archived (they appear to be now).

It should work if you publish a new version and make sure the latest version is fetched (not from browser cache). The next version will also include a fix for this to make this work with domains
