@jimtorarp this means for that site there are multiple users with the same email. This is something Matomo, and by extension, Matomo for WordPress doesn't support. Would you be able to remove all but one of the users with the same email?

Hi thanks for the quick reply, are we talking about matomo users in the plugin settings, and is that on both sites or is it OK to relove from one of the multisites? I have checked in the DB and in the user list for the plugin and there are no duplicates there. @diosmosis

@jimtorarp I meant WordPress users, did you check the wordpress user list (wp_users) or the plugin's user list (wp_matomo_user)?

@diosmosis I checked the matomo users. Let me check the WordPress user list on Monday at work. I'll let you know how it goes @diosmosis

It would have to be the WordPress user list, it wouldn't be possible to add the user with a duplicate email to the Matomo user list (the error you posted is what happens in that case).

Hi!
I first tested to delete one user that had the same email adress then matomo promted fatal error.
So i deactivated the matomo plugin and deleted the user successfully.
I tried to activate the matomo plugin and went to settings for the plugin and the same error occured.
I checked the DB in the wp_user table and saw that the user was still there so i deleted it from the db.
I now dont have any duplicate users with that email stating in the report i have tried to clear the matomo report and cache.
I have also done a "wp cli cache flush" and clear cache without success.

Any idea @diosmosis

I think i solved it, beacuse and old user in the wp_matomo_user table was there with the email the correct user in the wordpress user list could not be added because of then duplicate users in the matomo table. I could not sync new users either because i would get the error.
So i manually removed the old user in both wp_users and also in wp_matomo_user and so far it works. @diosmosis

@jimtorarp glad it's working. We'll try to make it easier to detect and solve these issues in the future, thanks for the report.
