Ok so to sum up the two problems:
- the first one is related to the power needed by the phone I guess: it may not be fixable but it should work with a phone at least 50/60% charged.
- the second problem with new phones (or maybe "some phones") lied on the way the USB descriptor was retrieved. InternetCE was considering that the IN and OUT RNDIS endpoints were mirrored so if it found an endpoint at 0x81, it was assuming the OUT endpoint was at 0x01 which is NOT always the case.
I'll merge the branch into master once I have something more stable.

If anyone has enough time (and the equipment) to test this, here are the files to transfer to the calc. Just run INTERNET, then plug your phone and see if you can enable the USB tethering.

After further research, I believe the problem lies in the way USB C works: I think that when you try to plug a calc to a phone with an USB C port, the latter will consider he is the KING (well at least the host), and will behave as it were.
The piece of information that makes me think so is that I receive periodically a USB_HOST_INTERRUPT
on calculator.
'still need to know why this happens with USB C when it works with micro USB...

Fixed in local, I'll push as soon as possible. So, closing the issue.
