I think you need to move <item name="android:background">?attr/colorA</item> from materialRangeDatePicker to myMaterialCalendar instead. The theme settings will be applied to all views which may cause the problem I think.

@drchen With that change the header and background color are separated which is great but now it doesn't apply the color that I'm setting for the background (which is bright blue color) but instead, it applies some other black color. And also now my background color is transparent. Do you have any idea what might cause this?

Hmm... I'm not entirely sure. Are you overriding ?attr/colorSurface anywhere?

@drchen No I'm not in the styles about the material date range picker, but I have it in some other styles in the project

That's very weird. Can you let me know what colorA and colorB is?

@drchen Okay so I set the surfaceColor instead of background color in materialRangeDatePicker and it seems to be working now, the color is a little bit lighter but I will check what might cause that
