I'm also receiving this error. I've tried setting encoding in the mailer and views, but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Do you have any weird characters in your stylesheets, perhaps?

No it's definitely in the mail body. Unfortunately I am unable to fix it. In my app I have a dynamic mail system in which people can create their own mail templates. It looks like there some kind of encoding issue, or lack of encoding enforcing. Switching to premailer fixes the issue.

Hmm, I would guess that the database is related. Which database driver are you using?
