If you are planning on implementing this, I would definitely recommend looking through cakewhip's original code for this mod, it had a config doSightChecksFlag that did exactly that.
LiamMCW removed it (as well as all of the server-sided code), to make porting to 1.17 easier.
Are there other inventories that this mod opens, that are usually not able to be opened? I know that this mod doesn't allow you to open chests and shulker boxes that have a block on top of them, but there might've been something I missed.

The sight flag is all I'm talking about - you can walk around a wall with a chest behind the wall and still access the chest.
I'm pretty sure blocked chests is a server-side check even as I never saw a hacked client allow that to happen.
