yeah its quite simple I guess.

  1. Create an endpoint which sends the typed letters

      /* file: config/routes.js */

      var search = require('/path/to/search.js')

      app.get('/search/:term', search.results)

      app.param('term', function (req, res, next, term) {
        req.term = term
        next()
      })
  2. Perform the query and send the results in json format

      /* file: app/controllers/search.js */

      var mongoose = require('mongoose')
      var Article = mongoose.model('Article')

      exports.results = function (req, res) {
        Article.
          .find({ title: req.term })
          .populate('user', 'name')
          .exec(function (err, articles) {
            if (err) return next(err)
            if (!articles) return res.json({ error: 'No articles found for query '+ req.term })
            res.json(articles)
          })
      }
