Well, pl.path does require 'lfs'; the question is, where is it on your
LUA_PATH ?
from penlight.
I have the lfs.so in the lua/libs folder which is in the LUA_CPATH directory. Do I need other files as well?
If I put the path into LUA_PATH it gives me errors because Lua tries to read it like a normal source file.

@zliti The problem is likely that it's looking at /usr/local/lib/lua/5.2
, while luarocks is installing to /usr/local/lib/lua/5.1
. There's a few places this happens, and it's usually because you have 5.1, 5.2, and luajit installed, and luarocks gets all crazy.

Has a definitive resolution to this been found? I believe the problem is exactly as @ajacksified has described, but I have not been able to find a LUA_PATH that addresses the issue.

We can close this, the fix is with luarocks, not penlight.
