Difficulties with sortable tables, can you improve documentation or give examples? Help? about html5sortable

i have tried everything but couldn't fix issue with table, i can't disable text selection for table because if i does this i am not able to sort table, and if i don't disable text selection when sometimes user drag and drop text from the app crashes don't know what to do

This is probably a little late, but the key to the problem is in the following line in the html.sortable.js code:

var isHandle, index, items = $(this).children(options.items);

You're looking for: items: 'tbody tr' but the JQuery children() function only goes down one level in the DOM tree.

What I would suggest is putting the "sortable" class in and then referencing that. Something like:

$('table.tbody.sortable').sortable({
    items: 'tr',
    handle: 'span.handle',
    placeholder: '<tr><td colspan="3">&nbsp;</td></tr>'
});

and

<table class="basic">
   ...
   <tbody class="sortable">
   ...
