Lean parser and visualizations for WhatsApp chat data

Getting your data

To export a chat :

• Go to the app
• Go to Settings/Chats/Chat History
• Tap Export chat
• Select the chat you want to export

Note :

• Make sure the name of the participants of the chat are Alpha numeric only (no " or :, importantly)
• Open the txt file in an editor and remove the line from Whatsapp indicating that the data is encrypted, as it doesn't have an author, and breaks the code Messages and calls are end-to-end encrypted. No one outside of this chat, not even WhatsApp, can read or listen to them. Tap to learn more.

From Conda:

• Jupyter notebook

From pip

• wordcloud : pip install wordcloud

Running the code

Open the Notebook, and give the full path to the chat export txt file for FILEPATH.

Run all the cells, and be a happy camper!
