I do have to wonder though, why are we the only ones seeing this? Anyone else seeing this? In particular I was seeing it with the "first" element of json object. See this question for more details...

IMO, This probably is less likely to merge this since it's just a paste of code... I suggest you Fork it and do a pull request.
