It's possible just takes time and desktop client updates lags behind web client updates - a lot :)

New version released. It has support for desktop client canned messages. Desktop client and web client have to be updated.

Canned responses doesn't seem to be picking up the responses I have created
in the database in the lh_canned_msg table.
Is there somewhere else I should be putting the canned messages?

You have to update whole app. Not just create a table.

Canned messages can be added only in web client. Desktop client only uses
them

That's what I thought but I can only see the canned messages in the web client,
the desktop client has the dropdown box but doesn't see the canned message
I saved.

I've attached a couple of screenshots as an example.
