I broke it here: 388d85f
Currently we only serialize the origin as part of serializing a ConfigValue.
I guess SimpleConfigOrigin itself could be made serializable but might want to use our custom serialization code rather than Java's more fragile default.

The actual mechanism isn't important, just as long as the data serializes. It seems like a fairly trivial class to serialize, it is an immutable value holder.

Do you need a PR to make this happen?

Here is a patch: b739f4b
If it works for you I can publish a release.

In 0.6.0 just published (may take a bit to sync to maven)

I see this issue happening in 1.2.1. It is causing trouble when Scalatest tries to serialize that exception.

The unit tests here pass so the bug you're seeing is somehow more specific: https://github.com/typesafehub/config/blob/master/config/src/test/scala/com/typesafe/config/impl/PublicApiTest.scala#L936
Can you open a new issue and either include info on the exact exception causing the problem, or even better provide a failing test ? Maybe easy to do copying the existing tests.
thanks for the report!
