If you have a patch, that would be great. Of course, once you start contributing code, you get to add your name to the list of authors (or I add it for you).

Note that I have started versioning the code and I've added a CHANGELOG. The current version is release 0.1.0. So, if you submit a patch, we can call it version 0.1.1.

Sure, patches coming along (tomorrow [GMT] now actually!) ;) I was really asking whether you had a preference on how the interface would look though? :)

Aren't you worried that the constructor you are proposing might be hard to interpret from someone who sees the API for the first time? I like it when people don't have to spend too much time reading the documentation.
If you think it can feel natural, then great.

I am indeed concerned about exposing the class internals as a raw byte array, but I dearly wish to save bytes :) I'll play around a little with reflection and see if I can fix it in my consumers :)

I've added a possible approach to this on my pre-existing pull request ( #3) Hope that is acceptable. I wouldn't imagine the serializer to be of much use to people unless they're serializing many small maps (as I currently am)

I think it is a fairly common use, actually. Thanks. I'll prepare a new release based on your contribution. And I'll add your name to the list of authors.
