I can confirm it does this with the default theme as well.

I can sometimes reproduce with hexchat:
Mod-Z : shows terminal
Mod-Z: hides terminal
launch hexchat
Mod-z: hides hexchat
Mod-z: shows hexchat
Close hexchat
Mod-z: shows terminal

Since it doesn't depend on my theme, I can't help you.

Scratchdrop is part of scratchpad, which is third-party software.

Another user who too had issues with it reported that switching to Awesome git branch solved the problem. But switching to the unstable version requires a little change in order to make copycats work.

As you can read from my notes, I suggest to rely on its creator, Adrian C. You can find his email in scratchdrop/init.lua.
