I just made a quick test over here, and it's working normally.
Can you provide more info? What Selectric version are you using?

Issues with v1.8.1. Chrome shows blank, IE crams all of the options onto one line, and Firefox expands out the entire dropdown without selecting. The OP's fix does work around the issue, but it would be nice to support the standard optgroup tag.
