I've submitted a PR to support the pull_request action, so the next version of the find-code-references action will have support for running against pull requests as well. I'll leave this issue open until those changes are available :)

Thanks for reaching out and reporting this!

Right now the find-code-references action does not support running against the pull_request action, but I don't see any reason why it shouldn't. Will do a bit of digging and see if we can support that in a new version.

In the meantime, the push event should still work as expected. Can you confirm that it does?

I have a similar error, but about a tag ref. We're on on v9 using on: push:
