This seems to fix the problem and make the lapce editor usable for me.
The keyboard still don't behavior like in regular (GTK/QT) apps, but this is outside the scope of this issue.
In case it have any relevance: for some special character the keyboard on lapce behaviors differently. Such with ^, in other apps the key combination Shift+^+[SPACE] produces ^, but in lapce only the combination Shift+^+^ produces ^.
