Nice, splitting the repository sounds good. I tried to install it using Ubuntu 23.10, but the following URL, which is used to retrieve the deb configuration file and check if the distribution is supported https://packages.konghq.com/public/insomnia/config.deb.txt?distro=${distro}&codename=${codename}&version=${version}&arch=${arch}, returns a valid configuration file for any version of Ubuntu and an HTTP status code of 200, even though there are only packages for Ubuntu Focal Fossa. In any case, forcing the installation using Focal as the Ubuntu version worked well, and I could upgrade to version 8.6.0.

Because there will not be a way to convince apt to sort the packages in any other way besides semver in a single repo, I've opted to populate a new repo with the 202[1..3]-versioned packages, and leave the default repo for 8.x.y packages.

We are also in the process of changing our package hosting to Cloudsmith.

The repos are:

• Main (8.x.y versioning): https://cloudsmith.io/~kong/repos/insomnia/packages/?sort=-version
• Legacy (202x.y.z versioning): https://cloudsmith.io/~kong/repos/insomnia-legacy/packages/?sort=-version

After you setup the repo, to allow apt to install an 8.x.y version while removing a 202x version, you will need --allow-downgrades.

@curiositycasualty, as @cesar19004 said, only the focal codename returns a valid configuration; the jammy for example (latest LTS) doesn't.
