Either would work to be fair. The problem I face with the plugin at the moment is when modelling a large environment it becomes quite cumbersome to quickly work out what physical interfaces a specific link is using.

Would you mind being more specific by what you mean by this? Do you mean a label visible at all times, or one that just shows up when you hover over the link? (So maybe included in the information shown in the hover details)

My preference would be one that is there all the time, but rotated on the link. Here's an example of how I used to do this in the old PHP Weathermap.
