I think there are several problems here.
* When it doesn't seem to be working at all, chances are that it's not an
offset problem but something else.
* When it's an offset problem (you can still see the image showing up), please
tell me on which site.
* Lifehacker support seems to be broken since their last update.
* About Facebook, I couldn't reproduce the bug.
* Omgubuntu is not officially supported, so I couldn't figure where you have
seen Hover Zoom working fine on it.

Just tested out lifehacker. Now it's working for me.
On facebook, doesn't work at all (or it is offset beyond the left edge, which
is certainly possible)
This extension seems to support far more than just the official "supported
sites", because I've seen it work on some pretty random places, as long as they
have links to images.
