Tried to do it as you said and it didn't work for my setup.  I turned off some 
other extensions to see if they might be disturbing access to the file but it 
didn't work, the problem still remains the same.

Your file didn't work. I uploaded .crx file in attachement. I guess it's the 
same file as yours.

You may try to enable logging as described here: 
http://www.chromium.org/for-testers/enable-logging

Then start Chrome, try to install the extension so it shows the error message, 
close Chrome then copy the debug log contents here. Thanks.

After all my efforts I didn't resolve this problem. Moreover, I found my 
anti-virus software (Comodo Internet Security Premium) removed beautify.it.js 
as a malware file. After all I had to reinstall my Windows System anyway due to 
other various circumstances so I couldn't send the debug file you asked for. 
Sorry but I won't be using this extention now anyway so it doesn't matter 
anymore. Cheers
