Something wrong happens with python3.6 (3.6.6) I installed python3.7 and it worked fine. Then,

python3.7 -m pip install pyxel

Edit: Trying the 02 example it opens correctly and sounds works, but I only see a black window.

Similar issue happens to me. My system is Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS

import-im6.q16: not authorized `pyxel' @ error/constitute.c/WriteImage/1037.
./base.py: línea 3: error sintáctico cerca del elemento inesperado `160,'
./base.py: línea 3: `pyxel.init(160, 120)'
