Thinking about this more, I think there could be a lot of value in just letting you batch a bunch of calls to the same query (but with different variables), for essentially the use case described at #45. It's a little awkward to do so -- we have to generate a de-novo struct for the variables if there are more than one -- but should be doable. In principle there might also be value in heterogeneous batches but I think it's a much harder problem.
