Cannot figure out the webpack config transpiling trick about webpack-config-utils

I'm not sure how this feature works and I've had inconsistent behavior with it. Here's a stack overflow answer from @bebraw. Seems promising.

Okay, further clues:

I'm working with a clean checkout of https://github.com/kentcdodds/es6-todomvc.git branch "FEM/07.0-offline".

• changed first line to use import instead of require - nope
• installed babel-register - nope
• changed .babelrc to remove the modules configuration from es2015 preset:

  "presets": [
    "es2015",
    "es2016",
    "stage-2",
    "react"
  ],

And this works!

But I don't know why 😦
