Moving to 1.0.2 since it require more thinking. Got some findings:
- K3d for example allow me to trick the nodeports through
-p source:target@server[0]
- Kind need to use
--extra-ports
mapping but nodePorts would require me to change the original services in K8s to make the nodePort == podPort to make it work - Tanzu and EKS-A apparently follow KinD but I'm still researching.
Overall I think the best way is an approach similar to k9s
where one may select the service and simply enable a portForward.
So ideally we may say something like:
k3ai plugin deploy <name> -t <cluster> --expose true
In the plugin yaml file we will have to pass the service to forward, something like:
resources:
- path: "blah blah blah"
args: "doh doh doh"
svc: "port-forward ..." ---> The command as documented by the upstream project
The only difference will be that we will have to avoid getting the terminal busy and forcing the user to open another one.. we will simply alert the user that: if you close the terminal you have to re-run the command or something like this.
