We inherited the toBuffer() behavior from node-bigint. The idea with the endian functionality is that you specify a word size and it'll apply the endian for each word, e.g.:

var BigNum = require('bignum');
var a = BigNum(256);
console.log(a.toBuffer({ endian: 'little', size: 2 })); // Buffer 00 01 as expected

I added a new way to get the behavior you want: Set size to "auto", like so:

var BigNum = require('bignum');
var a = BigNum(256);
console.log(a.toBuffer({ endian: 'little', size: 'auto' })); // Buffer 00 01 as expected

Hope that helps.

Thank you for explanation and 'auto' feature!

But I found that manual pointing of size is quite good for my purposes (padding, for example with zeros).
