I did not look at closed ticket. Sorry about that. Looks like this is the same as #6. So looks like a feature.

Not exactly a feature, but neither a bug. It is a requirement for the matching.
If there would be multiple names for the same path segment, the key for storing the value would not be known when matching the path segment.

That makes sense.
Overall the stricter rules you have seem nice. Knowing about a problem with a panic at a startup is better than wondering why things are routing wrong later.
