I also had a similar issue earlier, where it would fail once every 5 or so builds, probably because of this. Does the adb shell input keyevent 82
command consistently solve the issue, or does it still happen now and then? Please let me know if you find a solution.

In a simple test project I created I didn't use 82
and it seems to behave the same way, so I also removed it from my current project. My current suspect is Robotium itself, but I haven't tried to find the root cause yet.
I'll update this thread if I find anything useful.
