Easy enough. I have parsing functions to address some of these things too, but I'll definitely take a look at TJ's lib too:

btw, since you seem interested in this, have you looked at Verb? the goal with Verb is to do for GitHub projects what normalize-pkg is doing for package.json - at least in terms of the basics, like dotfiles, README.md and light documentation, etc.

great, the yeoman generator is where I would start. After installing it globally, npm i -g generator-verb, try running yo verb in an empty directory, then when it's done, run verb to generate a README.md from the template in the docs/ directory of the project you just created.

you can also use verb on existing repos. it's a new project, so I can really use feedback! thanks
