Run redshift-gtk.

As @maandree suggests you need to install the GUI package that is called redshift-gtk. Then you can run redshift-gtk from the command line. After you set up a configuration file you'll also be able to run Redshift from the menu or having it autostart when you log in.

Hey,

Thanks for the suggestions, though I'm still not seeing the icon:

If no app indicator being visible is the norm, should I manually kill redshift through htop/system monitor when I want to disable it?

To stop it you can run pkill redshift and to temporarily disable/enable it you can run pkill -USR1 redshift.

But this looks like a bug, an appindicator icon should be visible if you run redshift-gtk if you have appindicator (which the output suggests that you haev). If you do not have appindicator it should use a system tray icon instead.

Heya,

Just tested it on my second ubuntu 14.04 computer and it's working fine, so it looks like just a bug with my first computer.

Thank you for your help :)
