Can you check if TiLP II works with the device. I am using the same libraries and I don't have a CE calculator to test.

The TI-eZ80 series has been supported by libti*+tilp for several years. Do not use distro packages for these, make sure to build them using https://ti-pla.net/tilpinst instead.

@tarneaux if you still have issues after upgrading to the latest libti* using the link provided by @debrouxl let us know and I'll see if I can get a CE calculator to do further testing.

I should likely do some more testing with my TI-Nspire as well but I don't actually have a linux system handy to do the testing at the moment.

Hello,
Sorry for the late response, I was away without internet.
Anyways, I tried to do it, but still the same problem came up.
I had to make a windows VM to transfer using the official program (and I hate using windows).
If you can do something about it, i'll be happy to test it on my side too.

Hmm. Did you install udev rules for libticables to be able to access the USB device as a regular user, as indicated by the install script when it ends (the block of text mentioning the CONFIG file) ?

ok.
So this time I tried once more, and it first said "transmission error". I clicked OK like usual aaaaand... it worked.
I opened my terminal emulator, and there executed:

tilp Portal1P.8xv Portal.8xp PORTALED.8xp -n -s

(Portal1P.8xv, Portal.8xp and PORTALED.8xp being my test files
Output:

Soooooo...
There is still that problem with the communication error that doesn't mean anything. It's not even random: Every time I tried, it opened the same window, and then made the transfer. That's the TILP spirit I guess... 'o'
Morality: just let your computer sitting for 2 weeks, when you'll come back TILP will work.
