@singsai have you had any more luck with this? Did you register for a developer account at DocuSign? How are you getting that envelope_id?

Yes I have a developer account. I think I got the envelope_id by right clicking on an envelope and looking at its history. In the end, I settled on the REST-client gem to send/receive headers from the DocuSign API.
