What do you mean by "multiple servers"? On multiple physical machines?

This is not really the job of a web server. Better ask this somewhere else. I'd simply use nginx as a load balancer. This should probably suit you well enough for a very long time.

Hm I'm not sure if you're confusing abstraction layers here. bjoern is no different from other WSGI servers such as wsgiref or CherryPy's server. What you do for load balancing happens on an abstraction layer above.

Why would 25% of all connections be dropped by the load balancer? Either you have enough machine resources to handle all incoming requests, then there shouldn't be any drops. Or you don't have enough resources, then there's no setup on earth that saves you from connection drops or high response times.
