Could the sample app not be written using AndroidAnnotations? about android-pdfview

It requires extra set up just for a demo if the developer doesn't AndroidAnnotations on his own projects.

Ok I see. But as you said, it's just a demo, no one actually has to build it, and I want to keep the code short. I released it so that anyone can browse a working code, and the only interesting part is here. BTW if you just want to change the pdf file for example, then just do mvn clean install android:deploy android:run to build it and put it on your device.

Well I just thought it'd be easier and more hands on to view the raw code and see how everything is set up . Also, a little out of topic here, but is it possible to load a pdf file from the internet and load it with this library?

AA is really easy to set up, and if anyone can learn how to use it trying to use android-pdfview then it's good. :)
It's not possible to load a PDF file from the internet, but I just created an issue for that #20.
