I think there's a case for it to be trialled, but there's also a risk people that enjoy coming to evening meetups enjoy it in part because alcohol is served - and by removing it consistently it diminishes the audience perhaps?

I go to a lot of LGBT+ events/meetups and one of the groups is called Queers without Beers BTW, which does show there's an appetite for these.

What I would say is that we definitely need to include non-alcoholic beverages at all events, and I mean full sugar and sugar free, and giving variety/choice, not just Coke and Diet Coke or Water.

Before I started running my meet, I searched far and wide for a venue which didn't serve alcohol, such as the local university, library, community halls, etc... I either didn't get a response, or was told that I'd have to pay £30 an hour - as a venture that I'm funding out of my own pocket, this made it impossible for me to even consider them as options.

All the pubs I approached, however, were more than happy to help me out, with most offering the use of a private room in their venues for free.
