DateField Popup Button is only visible if I add the control "asSpinner" about jidefx-oss

This is expected. You need to add the field to a DecorationPane in order to make the popup button visible. The developer guide and demos should have mentioned this. The asSpinner will create its own DecorationPane for each field which is not as efficient as using one DecorationPane for multiple fields and other decoration purpose.

I don't notice the flashes white. Is it reproduce in the TextFieldsDemo.java?

With the latest JDK8 b109, I was able to fix it so that the FormattedTextField (and MaskTextField) will show the spinner buttons without using asSpinner. Please give it a try.
