I have tried it with both the last stable (0.9.5) and latest build from the melonds GitHub: https://github.com/melonDS-emu/melonDS/actions/runs/7514474796. Both were able to connect using the same files.

doesn't work for me either, even though it worked fine in earlier versions of melonds-ds

I have reproduced this issue successfully.
Which version of standalone melonDS did you use? The most recent stable release (0.9.5), or the latest master build?
