when I tried to open the xls file, I got the following message:

If I press OK button, MS Excel will still open the file without problem. Is there anyway to avoid the message window?

I'm getting this same result in Windows, but not Mac. The error that shows for me is:

"The file format and extension of 'filename.xls' don't match. The file could be corrupted or unsafe. Unless you trust its source, don't open it. Do you want to open it anyway?"

@jecovier I tried to update the package, but I don't know, I'm still getting that error message.

it's a security feature introduced a while back in office.
Just go on and click open, otherwise unlock the file or disable the security feature from Excel options (not recommended!)
