Just give their parent elements different class names or IDs and create styles like:

.firstStyle .tipsy { /* ... */ }
.secondStyle .tipsy { /* ... */ }

or

#firstStyle .tipsy { /* ... */ }
#secondStyle .tipsy { /* ... */ }

respectively.

Hmm..I'm not sure I got you right.
But that's kinda how I did it. But the .firstStyle or .secondStyle needed to be in the tipsy tooltip html code. :)

Nevermind. I assumed the <div> for the actual tooltip was placed inside the same parent element as the tooltipped element (maybe it did at one time?) but as it's appended to the <body> something like your solution is needed.

+1 setting an additional custom class by using an option would be nice. I just had to hack that in.

It seems the functionality is already included in tipsy. There is a configuration option named className. It just isn't documented.
