As you say, I've found a fix and got it working for me, but thought I should share (at the very least, it makes it "Googlable" :)).
It's interesting that you haven't had the error when testing - I don't know if it's possible that our DBAs have set something odd?

Thank you a lot for the detailed issue description. You seem to have found a good fix for yourself. And I agree it should be fixed in JATOS itself to. Strangely, whenever I tested JATOS with MariaDB I didn't encounter this error. But I will test again (after the holidays 😀).
