I know, I know, JATOS could use some proper frontend framework. We still use Bootstrap 3.4 :/ .
But I put your CSS to good use: e70314c
It will be part of the next release :) .

one thing to consider is that i was prepared to figure this out and do a proper PR myself. i get that it's (usually) a million times easier to take the suggestion and implement it oneself, however there is merit in taking the time to "mentor" someone in contributing to the project ... your time constraints may not allow, and it can be a really big time sink, but it sometimes pays off, where the contributor goes on to contribute more than the time you invested.

i run some substantial projects myself, so i appreciate the tension, but it is a great feeling when you get someone to the point where they're contributing more than they're consuming.

Jonathon, I'll take your advise to heart. I'd be happy if JATOS grows more into a community. People already give and discuss feature requests, and tell bugs but I'm still the major coder. Another point is that right now my time is really pretty limited since I care for a small kid at home, but from August on he will go to a nursery school ...
