Looks like a really quick binding to Lua, not just LuaJIT! Anything LuaJIT specific in it?

No there's nothing specific to LuaJIT in the code. It should work without modification with PUC Lua too.
But from my point of view, the real utility of this binding is the access to FFI capabilities of LuaJIT.
After some (basic) tests to implement FFI in Janet (*), I think that simply using LuaJIT is probably a (lazy) sensible solution.
(*) I'm not sure that Janet needs absolutely FFI capabilities but for my personal projects I just need it.
